A very committed team of volunteer teachers led by a dynamic
octogenarian grandmother (Daadi Ma) have taken these children from
the lesser privileged sections under their wing. The children aged
5-15 years are all mainstreamed and get assistance with their
			functional literacy skills after school.

This school is in a remote village with very little connectivity in the
hills of Uttarakhand. Children walk for several kilometres to reach
school, often having to brave the weather, stream crossing and trail
walking. The quest for learning and the desire to do well in life keeps

A beautiful and humbling initiative by
two friends who are themselves struggling with and braving poverty on a
day to day basis. The parents of the children are predominently migrant
labour who survive doing odd jobs. Most of the kids have no education
because the parents don't have the time or the resources to send them to
school. Rajesh Sharma and Laxmi Chandra visit the neighbouring slums and
counsel the parents to send their children to them so that they may
prepare them for school. They promote the benefits of literacy and the
child's Right to Education in the country.

Mr. Laxmi Chandra is a scholar who lives in poverty and has dedicated
his life to teaching underprivileged children all across India. He
teaches all subjects - especially to the senior class students - and
loves teaching physics. Rajesh runs a small provision store nearby. His
commitment to helping these children is commendable. He teaches the
smaller children in the group. The two of them together help mainstream
these in the neighbouring Government run schools after familiarizing and
equipping them with basic Primary School level education. |

		In 1995, Baba John
Dayal established an orphanage by the name of "Bal Vihar". He began with
only four children and no money in hand. Bal Vihar emerged from the need
to provide care and protection to children who are orphans or from
broken families, and have been languishing in the quagmire of apathy and
distress. The police, J.J. Slum department and various other social
organizations and workers have been bringing children to this orphanage.
The home currently does not provide an adoption facility. However, the
society is pursuing permission to do so from the concerned government
		department.

With generous contributions from neighbors and well-wishers within the
country and abroad since 1995, the society today owns two shelter homes
with a total built up space of approximately 300 yards for girls and
small boys in Mahavir Enclave, Palam, and another 220 yards for elder
boys at New Vision Colony, Najafgarth, to house all children and also
has a strong support staff and volunteers who provide assistance in
		running the orphanage.

All the children are sent to neighbourhood schools and provided remedial
classes/tuitions in the evening, besides being provided comfortable
accomodation and a caring environment. |

It is a school for the less fortunate children in
Goyla Village founded and run by Mr. Harkesh Sharma, Founder of the
charitable Sh. Hazari Lal Education Society. He put his life's savings
in building this school facility for the poor and the underprivileged
sections of society in his own and surrounding villages.
The school has about 300 children of which 80 are completely exempted
from paying any school fees. The others who can afford some fee pay a
very nominal Rs. 1000 per month with special promotions like 50% off for
the second child and 100% exemption for the third child in the family.
(whereas the average school fee in a privately run school in Delhi is
anything between ,5000 - 25,000 per child per month).
